Blouse and Lehenga Measurement Guide

NRI & Remote Clients

Serving clients in USA, UK, Canada, Australia & Gulf with precision remote fitting guarantees.

Pre-Measurement Checklist:
Essential Preparation

Before pulling out the measuring tape, ensure you have set the foundation correctly. Taking measurements over heavy jeans or bulky sweaters will distort your pattern.

Soft Vinyl Tape

Use a flexible fabric or vinyl measuring tape. Metal construction tapes will fail on body curves.

Proper Innerwear

Wear the exact bra type (padded/non-padded, push-up) you intend to wear under your final blouse.

Footwear / Heels

Wear the exact heel height intended for your event when measuring lehenga or gown lengths.

Mirror or Helper

Stand naturally straight in front of a full mirror. Having a friend assist yields 100% accuracy.

Category 01

Designer Blouse & Choli Measurements

Detailed step-by-step measurements required for a sculpted, crease-free blouse pattern.

Step 01

Full Bust Circumference

Wrap the tape loosely around the fullest part of your bust over the nipple line. Keep the tape parallel to the floor across your back shoulder blades.

💡 Pro Tip: Breathe out naturally. Do not inhale or hold your breath while recording.
Step 02

Upper Bust (Above Bust)

Wrap the tape directly under your armpits, above the bust mound. Essential for wide sweetheart, boat neck, and off-shoulder blouse cuts.

💡 Pro Tip: Prevents fabric puckering near the armpits on broad necklines.
Step 03

Under Bust (Empire Waist)

Measure around your torso directly under your bust, right where the lower band of your bra rests. This determines the exact blouse waistband fit.

💡 Pro Tip: Keep the tape snug so the blouse doesn't ride up when you lift your arms.
Step 04

Shoulder Width

Measure across your back from the outer edge bone of one shoulder to the outer edge bone of the other shoulder across the nape of the neck.

💡 Pro Tip: Stand naturally with arms resting at your sides. Do not hunch.
Step 05

Shoulder to Apex (Bust Point)

Measure vertically from the highest point of your shoulder (near the base of neck) down to the apex/nipple point of your bust.

💡 Pro Tip: Essential for placing built-in padded bra cups and Princess cut darts.
Step 06

Apex to Apex Distance

Measure horizontally between the highest points of both bust mounds. Typically ranges between 6.5 to 8.5 inches.

💡 Pro Tip: Guarantees padding is centered exactly over your bust points.
Step 07

Blouse Full Length

Measure vertically from the shoulder neck junction straight down over the bust to your desired blouse bottom hem edge.

💡 Pro Tip: Standard blouse lengths range from 13.5 to 15.5 inches.
Step 08

Front Neck Depth

Measure diagonally from the shoulder-neck junction down to the center point of your desired front neck drop line.

💡 Pro Tip: Popular front neck depths are 6.5" to 7.5".
Step 09

Back Neck Depth

Measure diagonally from the shoulder-neck junction down the center back to your desired back neck opening depth.

💡 Pro Tip: Deep back cuts (9"+) require back dori ties to hold shoulders in place.
Step 10

Armhole Circumference

Wrap the tape over the top of your shoulder and down under your armpit in a loop. Keep arm hanging naturally.

💡 Pro Tip: Ensures freedom of movement without tightness under armpits.
Step 11

Arm Round (Bicep)

Measure around the fullest part of your upper arm bicep muscle. Slide one finger under the tape for comfort.

💡 Pro Tip: Crucial for elbow-length and full-sleeve heavy Aari work blouses.
Step 12

Sleeve Length & Cuff Round

Measure from the tip of shoulder bone down to desired sleeve length (Cap, Mega, Elbow, or Full). Also measure cuff round at sleeve end.

💡 Pro Tip: Elbow sleeve length is usually 10.5" - 11.5".
Category 02

Bridal Lehenga & Skirt Measurements

Ensure your lehenga skirt falls gracefully to the floor with perfect waist security.

Step 01

Lehenga Waist Circumference

Measure around your waist at the exact height where you prefer to tie your lehenga (typically 1 to 2 inches above the navel).

💡 Pro Tip: Keep the tape firm so heavy bridal lehengas don't slip down.
Step 02

Hip Circumference

Wrap the tape around the fullest part of your hips/buttocks. Crucial for A-line and Mermaid cut lehengas to slide on smoothly.

💡 Pro Tip: Make sure tape doesn't sag at the back over your seat.
Step 03

Lehenga Length (With Heels)

Stand straight with wedding heels on. Measure from the lehenga waist tie point straight down to the floor.

💡 Pro Tip: Add 0.5 inches if wearing a heavy multi-layer Can-Can skirt underneath.

Kurti, Anarkali & Salwar Suit Guide

Essential measurements for straight kurtis, flared anarkalis, and salwar bottoms.

Step 01

Kurti / Anarkali Length

Measure from top shoulder seam near neck down over bust to desired bottom hemline (knee, calf, or ankle height).

Step 02

Side Slit Start Height

For straight kurtis, measure from shoulder down to where you want the side slit opening to begin (usually hip bone line).

Step 03

Pant / Salwar Length

Measure from waist elastic/drawstring point down to the ankle bone. For churidar bottoms, add 6 to 8 inches for gathering folds.

4 Critical Errors to Avoid While Measuring

Pulling the tape too tightly around the body.
Taking lehenga measurements barefoot without heels.
Slouching or looking down at the tape while measuring.
Wearing unpadded sports bras during measurement taking.
